Collective Worship
At Walsgrave Church of England Academy, collective worship is at the heart of school life. It is a special time when we come together as a community to reflect, pray, celebrate and grow in our understanding of God, ourselves and one another.
Our worship is rooted in our Christian vision:
Together We Thrive – Belonging, Growing and Learning Together in God's Love.
Inspired by Colossians 2:7, we encourage our whole school community to be "rooted and built up in Jesus", recognising that strong roots help us to flourish in every aspect of life.
Collective worship brings our vision to life. Through Bible stories, prayer, reflection, music and shared experiences, children are encouraged to think deeply about how they can live out our Christian values of Friendship, Endurance, Thankfulness, Forgiveness, Service and Hope in their everyday lives.
Our worship helps children to understand what it means to belong to a caring community, to grow in character and faith, and to learn from the example of Jesus.
Our Approach to Worship
Our collective worship follows the Church of England's principles of being:
Inclusive
Everyone is welcome. Collective worship is a shared experience where every member of our diverse school community is valued and respected. It contributes to the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of all children while recognising and celebrating the richness of different faiths, beliefs and backgrounds.
Invitational
We warmly invite everyone to engage with worship in a way that is meaningful to them. Children are encouraged to reflect, pray and participate, while always respecting the dignity, beliefs and personal journey of every individual.
Inspiring
Our worship is creative, engaging and relevant. Through storytelling, music, drama, discussion and opportunities for pupil leadership, we inspire children to live out our vision and Christian values both in school and beyond.
Worship in Action
Collective worship is led by a variety of people, including school staff, clergy from our local church, visitors and, importantly, our children.
Throughout the year, children take an active role in planning and leading worship, sharing prayers, reading Scripture, reflecting on our Christian values and celebrating the ways our vision is lived out across our school community.
Our worship extends beyond the hall and into daily school life. It shapes our relationships, influences our decisions and inspires acts of kindness, service and courageous advocacy, helping us to create a community where everyone belongs, everyone grows and everyone learns together in God's love.
We warmly welcome parents, carers, governors and members of our wider community to join us for collective worship throughout the year as we continue to live out our vision.
